
THERE IS NO ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE –318 (C→T) AND +49 (A→G)
CTLA4 GENE POLYMORPHISMS AND THE COELIAC CONDITION
IN THE MALTESE POPULATION

CONCLUSIONS
Within the Maltese population, the CTLA4 –318 C and +49 A alleles are in linkage disequilibrium and there is no association between the CTLA4 –318 (C→T) and +49 (A→G) SNPs and CD. This could be due to various factors, including founder effects within the Maltese population, as well as the heterogeneous pathogenesis of CD.
